Time Sensitive Offer!

by Dave on May 16, 2010

Really?

Lately as well as the gamut of  ‘Freebies’ that my email account has been hammered with, I’ve recieved a plethora of emails telling me that an offer is ‘Time Sensitive’?

What does this imply that an offer is sensitive to time? Is the offer feeling a getting a bit of a crush for time, and could do with some gentle petting?

Okay maybe this is some mild mannered scare tactic trying to get me to rush on over to a web page where I surrender my name and email address for an ebook? An extreme possibility I suspect!

Sooo Let me understand this…
You want me to click on a link that takes me to a page that promises me a free ebook if I give you my details?
This book will most probably be…
‘How to Drive Insane amounts of Traffic to any Website within the sight of God for Free or less’
or
‘How to avoid the hype by reading my thinly disguised anti-hype..which is actually hype…’
or
‘How to push a button and have force cash into your pockets by being able to copy and paste’

I guess you get the idea…
My issues with this are thus;
The person sending you to the ‘Friends’ website has probaly swapped lists and they’re trying to get bigger lists of subscribers so they can increase sales on things they promote as affiliates.
That’s okay. But all this does is propogate further confusion to anyone coming into Internet Marketing. They end up subscribing to each and every list and ultimately get ‘Information Overload’
Which they were trying to avaoid in the first place.

Secondly
If people told the honest truth about the product they were promoting, it wouldn’t sell. So they have to get a little bit exagerative and use some psychological triggers to hook your interest. Don’t be upset, it’s called ‘Marketing’ If Alex had sent me an email saying…

“Hey Dave, I’m running another training course, first one wasn’t the best I could have done. But I learned some stuff from my screw ups on the first one, and I wanna give another one a go. I Think it’s going to be okay, and I think some of you might succeed from it..but I’m not sure how many..or even if you will..or even if it’ll suit you?
I’ve said that I’ll take on 500 students, but I’ll see, at $ lotsa I’ll find it hard to resist the money.
Do you fancy giving it a go..I think it may work this time?
By the way this is offer is time sensitive”

How many people do you think would rush for their credit cards to pay for this?

and if people are saying their product will deliver without the hype, as with anything…read reviews. Best place for this would be www.IMReportCard.com Where you can read genuine reviews of products or suggest a review of one.

Thirdly
As with any new skill you learn, it’s going to cost. It’s going to cost time and it’s going to cost money. The Internet is in a constant state of flux and evolution. You will have to learn the basics then work on them. It’s going to be frustrating at times. School was frustrating at times, college was frustrating a times. I didn’t immediately undestand everything I was taught. But I kept notes, and I read my notes and things began to make more sense. There is no ‘Push Button System, Even if you do come across a marketer who offers to do totally everything for you, it’s going to cost you a lot of money and you will not have leanrned how to do it yourself. They will have given you a fish and not taught you what you had to do to get it.

Brings me onto my closing thoughts for this ranticle.
I’m in convo with Mark Lyford about setting up a training program with a difference. I’ll keep you posted on this, until then.

Ciao For now :)
